MASSAGE PRESCRIPTION (RX) IS A MUST IF YOU ARE RECEIVING TREATMENT UNDER CERTAIN INSURANCE!

Updated: Jan 22, 2022

In 2019, Regence had clarified referral and prescription (RX) for massage therapy are different from one another. You must have RX to get treated for massage specifically if you have Regence insurance.

I hear the complain all the time "my insurance don't need referral or prescription" Yap, I am with you! It might need referral but they need massage RX for medical purpose. Difference between referral and prescription is that the referral does not need to have a diagnosis code because it is simply a referral and anyone can refer you to massage therapist. While prescription (RX), the physician is required to write a diagnosis code that will explicitly point out what you need to get massage treatment with based on your concerns.

Obtaining it can be done easily, all you need to do is call your doctor's office (Chiro, Acupuncturist, etc.) and normally the office person will handle the request. Once you have your RX you or them can fax it to 253-630-6624. Thank you for your cooperation!
